    This was a nice looking menu that produced a less than satisfactory final product. The stuffed portabello mushroom was good, even though the mushroom was way drier that a fresh one would have been. Entrees oso buco with risotto. A very thick sauce drowned the plate and hid an otherwise good piece of meat. The risotto was orange, over cooked and lacked flavor. I asked for some fresh and got another one not over cooked but with less flavor. Our other entree was chicken, prosciutto and a sauce that looked like a cheese sauce from a kraft package! The prosciutto was way to thick and very tough, the sauce was bland. Overall very disappointing, unfortunately our favorite italian in the city had a fire and is no more. We are still looking for a good one in town.

    Well, I'm a little thrown off by the reviews that are all over the map. I thought the atmosphere was really good. The decor is all over the map, but the building is cool and it pulls together in an eclectic way.We went in for lunch and had a very good meal. Had the antipasta plate and it was really good. The Caprese salad was three pieces of tomato and three huge chunks of cheese. It was only $8. Also had what was basically large stuffed cheese ravioli. They were very good and the tomato sauce was really fresh, simple and good. It may be overpriced at dinner like some have stated, but it sure was not for lunch. I would actually really like to go back and wish this place was in Memphis so I could eat here often!

    This is the third time I've eaten here in 10 years. Had I been a Yelper 10 years ago, I would have to edit my original review of 4 or 5 stars. This place used to be GREAT! Maybe we wer' e there on a bad night. We had a party of 10 and I tried just about everyone's entree and we all discussed the taste and food quality of each dish.. I personally ordered two apps with my wife and the lobster bisque. The apps were the best part of the meal. The Calamari Frti was delicious, there was no lobster in my bisque or the other three orders of bisque that were served to our table. Service was good. I had the best entree out of the 10 ordered. I ordered the lamb and it was cooked exactly to my specification, and the sauce was delicious that was served with it. My only complaint about my entree was the seasonal veggie which was baby carrots with a orange glaze of some sort, it was VERY sweet. I was disappointed! Portions were small and food was just okay. I remembered this place being great and I will probably never go back after this last trip. After the added 20% gratuity(which I never mind paying), my wife and I dined for just under $200 that being said we did get 3 apps, 2 entrees, 2 glasses of pino grigio, and 4 vodka sodas If it were not for the ambiance, I would have left only 1 star. Very limited bar selection. Single malt scotches were limited to about 4 offerings and all of them were the old standards .

    The decor is a little confusing but there is a beautiful piano situated in middle of the restaurant. Our waitress was nice but very verbal about her pregnancy...which always weirds me out. The calamari tasted like fried nothing. The spaghetti campagnola resembled Hunt's tomato sauce and Vienna sausages. The tortellini alla panna was creamy, cheesy, and filling....so there's that.

    I don't understand the bad reviews here. This place was wonderful. Sure it's a bit dated and feels like your visiting your crazy great aunts house but that's part of the character and unique charm. The servers were friendly and knowledgable. Good wine selection. Free bruschetta. The Pollo Alla Sophia Loren was out of control delicious! The bourbon bread pudding was good and big enough to share. Overall great experience here I would definitely come back.

    The atmosphere of Belle Arti is unparalleled in Hot Springs, but the dinner selection is rather underwhelming. Lunch is slightly better, but again rather average and not particularly inspired. The service is superb at all times of day, matching well with the decor, but overall this rating is dictated by the food itself, which is neither terrible nor great.

    Went here looking for an authentic, nice Italian dinner & was sorely disappointed. I ordered the salmon piccata which was tough & extremely overcooked. My fiancé' steak was smothered in what appeared to be Kraft white American cheese slices. Not to mention the "Caesar" salad was dressed with flavored mayonnaise. I am not one to complain at a restaurant and have never sent a meal back before, but in this case I wouldn't even accept their replacement entree. By far worst food we've ever had at a restaurant. However, our server was polite & did his job well. The atmosphere was average.

    TOURIST TRAP! We were visiting Hot Springs and tried Belle Arti after just Googling some restaurants in the area. Seeing the prices and decor I thought it should be pretty decent. It's not! What an overpriced scam! The only good thing about our experience was the waitstaff. Greg was very good at his job. We arrived really early (4:45, we had a hungry toddler with an early bedtime after a long day of sight seeing). Greg was professional, knowledgeable, and at the same time personable and welcoming like an old friend. Our son had tripped outside and skinned his knee and Greg brought us towels and band-aids without us having to ask. He knew the menu well and was able to recommend dishes based on our preferences. He insisted on bringing my husband another steak when his was overcooked. We didn't want to complain or send it back (we were just ready to get out of there), but Greg tried his best to make it right. Frankly, he deserves to work some place better than this. As far as the food goes, everything was worse than store bought and/or frozen, which I didn't think was possible especially at $25+ per entree! My husband and I ordered Caesar salads for appetizers. It was a bowl of soggy iceburg, with croutons, covered in MAYONNAISE! Not even the cheap Kraft brand Caesar dressing that has some hint of flavor or pepper, but straight up plain mayonnaise. I told our waiter Greg that it wasn't good and he seemed sympathetic and said he would inform the kitchen. The complimentary bruschetta was alright, nothing great but not bad. My husband ordered the steak gorgonzola which came SMOTHERED in cheese sauce with the mini salad shrimp. I ordered some other steak based on Greg's recommendation that was topped with mushrooms and artichoke hearts. Our son had the kid's spaghetti and meatballs. Both of our steaks were cooked well done when we ordered medium. Even the waiter prepped us when we ordered that their medium is "very pink", but these were full brown. My husband alerted him to it, but chose to just go ahead and eat it without sending it back. I kept quiet and did the same. But Greg was nice and brought my husband a second one they attempted to cook correctly. IT WAS RARE! This kitchen is completely incompetent. We just took it, pretended to be satisfied, and didn't say anything else. The cheese sauce and mushroom/artichoke toppings on the steaks were very salty. I tried my son's spaghetti, wondering if even that was as bad... it was. Canned Chef Boyardee would be a step up from their sauce. When the bill came we had buyer's remorse and were just ready to get out of there and never come back. When you spend $120 on a meal you expect it to meet certain standards. This wouldn't even satisfy a $50 meal at Olive Garden. I have a hard time thinking the positive reviews are based on certain dishes and I just got a bad one. Waitstaff great, atmosphere ok, food awful.

    We had lunch here during our vacation. Calamari was excellent. I found the batter to be light and satisfactorily seasoned. Homemade mozzarella was awesome but the accompanying tomatoes were not tasty or very ripe. Waiter was friendly and provided good service. Prices seemed fair for the quality and type of food. Don't suggest using the bathroom :(

    This is a neat little place right in the heart of Bathhouse Row and we were told that it was a 4-5 star restaurant by some of the people in Hot Springs. Man, I wish we would stop listening to other people and their poor opinions of places like this. (I.E. Universal Orlando restaurants) The service was actually pretty great. Our waiter was back and forth with bread, drinks and our appetizer quite promptly. I have no complaints in that department, or in the beautiful piano playing department either. It was a nice touch. I ordered the "Al Gorgonzola" which was Filet Mignon with baby shrimp, vegetables and rosemary potatoes in a buttery, Chardonnay sauce. The sauce was great. The Filet Mignon was not how I ordered it (medium-rare). It was hard to chew and tasted like cheap hamburger steak. It was also so completely consumed by the sauce that I had a hard time tasting it. The rosemary potatoes were fantastic. That's about all I ate before I took the rest to go for my husband who is a bottomless pit. The Caesar salad was despicable. The dressing, which I heard was "award-winning" tasted like a sweet mayonnaise. I did not like it at all. I actually tried adding a cup of ranch and ended up not eating a bite. It was AWFUL. My husband ordered the Fettuccine Delgolfo which was fettuccine tossed with sauteed shrimps, artichoke hearts and Greek olives in a lemon, butter sauce. It was good, but it sure wasn't worth the 28$ price tag. The shrimp was excellent, but the pasta? Tasted store-bought. I liked the decor, and the dark, romantic setting with the candles on each table and beautiful, modern tableware, but this place wasn't worth the 94$ price tag for food we barely touched. I won't be back.

    I cannot believe this wonderful restaurant has such mediocre reviews on Yelp. I ate here on a whim, as a visitor from out of town, and everything about it was amazing. The food was to die for and was homemade, as it seems and as verified by the waitress. We ate like gods for the price we paid. I also can't believe this place got $$$ on yelp. The prices were very decent for the quality. The caprese salad and the white bean soup were especially delicious. Yummmmmm.

    Where to begin So our bachelor party came here for a supposedly wonderful lunch What we got was: Pizza out of the freezer section from dollar general Manicotti that was submerged in a 'celebration' of canned tomato sauce. But at least the water was crisp. I think the only thing slower than our server is the kitchen.

    We came here 6 years ago and remember an amazing dinner, what a disappointment. The little neck clams were delicious but we sent back both plates after. The salad I ordered with apples, came with soggy apples. The basil sauce on the pasta was sub par. Try the Central Park Restaurant.

    This was possibly the worst restaurant I've ever been to. The food was ridiculously bad and overpriced, and our experience was beyond bizarre. We ordered the chef special of Atlantic salmon with "dijon mustard", seasonal vegetables, and roasted potatoes ($25) and fettucine bandiera, which was spinach pasta with basil, ricotta, and "fresh" tomato sauce ($16). With prices like these, you would expect a pretty good meal. We got this instead: Frozen salmon that was cooked, so it wasn't very tender (Come on, I can make this), smothered in bright yellow dijon mustard "sauce", which was literally Hunt's dijon mustard poured over the fish. The asparagus tasted canned, the veggies tasted frozen, and the potatoes were cooked down so that the skin was translucent and no longer red. The spinach pasta tasted sour (although that might be the nature of spinach pasta) tossed in a salty tomato sauce. I'll admit the portions were huge, but that doesn't matter much if the food isn't very good. They also served us bruschetta (which tasted like it had been sitting out) and bread with an olive dipping sauce. The bread was good, but it was really soft like it had been heated up in the microwave. To top it off, the restaurant was kind of run-down. It reminded me of a haunted restaurant from a thriller movie- all dark and cramped with a glowing chandelier in the middle. The piano player was very good though. Our waiter was also very friendly, but in the middle of our meal, he collapsed on the floor from either tripping on something or a seizure (I hope he's okay). Just a strange experience.

    Quoting my sister (said with a pained look on her face, "It was good, but not." Specifically, although it has a truly lovely decor, the food just fell short. The crust on the bread was burnt with a bitterness that overwhelmed any flavor of the bread. I cannot recall specifics at this point, but our overall memory is that although the service was very good, the food just fell short. How can that happen with Italian food?

    Service are fantastic and fancy decors. The qualities of food is poor, nothing special and way over price. Usually when you're extremely hungry, everything taste great, but i couldn't enjoy my food at all. Find out for yourself if you don't believe most of the reviews on here. Wish i read this before i go in.

    Way overpriced and frankly not very good. We should have known what we were in for when the bruschetta arrived on bread so tough and stale, it wasn't even edible. The calamari was probably the best part of the meal. My manicotti was okay but nothing to write home about. Service was slow and they seemed unprepared for our large group of 10, even though we had made reservations nearly a week in advance. Belle Arti inexplicably has a reputation for being one of the better restaurants in the area. If you're looking to spend a lot of money on mediocre food, you won't be disappointed.

    I will give it three stars. It is overpriced for what you get. My spaghetti carbonara was really very good, but there wasn't much of it for $16.50. It is served with bread, but no salad or soup, which should certainly be included for that price. Entrees other than pasta will cost you up to $30 each. Hostess asked if I had a reservation, even though there were only 2 tables occupied at 6PM. Service was attentive, but slightly annoying. Waitress practically insisted that I ask for her recommendations on what to order, saying she had tried everything on the menu and knew what was best. I politely declined and ordered what I wanted. The restaurant is located in an old building near Bathhouse Row. The dining room is sort of like a long, fairly narrow hallway. The bar is in the very back, out of sight. Probably try some place else next time I am in town.

    Went to Belli Arti with my family on a Friday night. The decor and service were very nice; however, the food was nothing to brag about, and forget about having it for left overs!!! Extremely over priced for what you get, and I don't mean in quantity! Each of our meals ranged from $16.50-$22 (we were four), and it doesn't even come with soup or salad! Sadly to say I've had better frozen meals! Only giving it one star for the service and decor, but if you are looking for a good Italian restaurant, in my opinion, this isn't it!

    Had the calamari for an app. It was cooked well, marinara dipping sauce left something to be desired. Wife ordered "ravioli alla boscaiola" which was excellent. White mushroom cream sauce was reduced well. Great flavor. I had the shrimp artichoke pasta with lemon butter sauce. Flavor was a bit bland despite the appearance of being assaulted with herbs & spices. Service was good, that said server would not leave us alone & droned on, instead of allowing us to talk. No biggie...

    We have returned here a number of times over the last 10+ years. Each time we return hoping for a better result than the last visit. We are regular visitors to Hot Springs for race season. We will not be returning to this restaurant again. Belle Arti has decent ambiance, piano is nice, service is mediocre at best, food is a toss up. In all fairness our food last night was good, which only slightly made up for the sub par service. We regularly bring our own wine when dining out, and we realize a corkage fee is customary. Bringing our wine is never a problem when traveling or dining at home. For some reason this is a problem at Belle Arti. We were asked if we were aware of the corkage fee, we said we had dined here before and understood it was customary, but requested a reminder of their fee. The waitress said she would have to check and it could be as much as $15. She also said they had the bottle we brought on their wine list. We have never encountered this, but if our wine was on the list we would certainly buy it from the restaurant, so we asked to see the list. The wine was not on the list and the waitress after checking with the bartender informed us the corkage fee was $18. Seriously? $18!? Besides, how does the waitstaff not know the corkage fee? I guess it's subjective based on the mood of the bartender? We then waited almost 10 minutes for her to open our wine. I also asked about a dish I had previously at the restaurant (pasta Norma) a dish we saw on the menu at the door the day before, but wasn't on the "special Friday night menu." I inquired about being able to order it. The kitchen was not able to make it. (It is penne with red sauce, basil and dry ricotta.) I felt like they could not accommodate because we elected to go ahead and enjoy our own bottle of wine, even with the $18 corkage fee. We have decided even though the food was good, we won't be returning. Too many issues with this place. It's unfortunate they can't get it together with service and food. And by the way, the staff should know the proper pronunciation of the restaurant name...it's most decidedly not "belly" Arti.

    It was New Year's Day. We were hungry. Many places were closed. We were also not used to dining around cigarette smoke in restaurants, and with me being pregnant, it narrowed our dining options even more. So Belle Arti it was. Overall, the food was okay. It's not the best Italian food I've had. The bread that preceded the meal came with this weird, oily, grey goop that I had never seen before. The waitress said in a condescending but educational voice, "Oh, that's what they call pesto. They grind up--" and I interrupted her by saying, "Pesto is supposed to be green!" I still tried it, and it was still weird. I think our experience could have been better if we didn't have the waitress who served us. She had this attitude that Belle Arti was dining at its finest, and would go out of her way to explain why she can't do certain things (like grate cheese without the plate underneath) because they weren't allowed. I don't care; I just want some damned cheese so my alfredo isn't so bland! If I ever re-visit Hot Springs, AR, I think I'll scope out the other Italian joints in the place before coming back to Belle Arti.

    My mom and I tried out Belle Arti for dinner on our trip to Hot Springs - what a disappointment! The restaurant itself was nice enough, but the meal was less than satisfying. Not to be difficult, but we made very clear to our waitress that we were trying to avoid dishes with a heavy cream base or cream sauce. We ordered the strawberry salad (the only saving grace of the meal) and stuffed portobello mushroom to start. Portobello arrives - COVERED IN CREAM SAUCE! We asked the waitress if we could replace it with something else, and she told us that it said creme sauce on the menu...no, it didnt. She brought us the menu only to prove her point, and then she was proven wrong. We were looking forward to our veal piccata regardless. Sadly, when the plate arrived, we couldn't find the veal. It was buried under so much bland flour-thickened picatta sauce that we had to fish out the sad tiny pieces and transport them to other plates along with the over cooked green beans and tiny potatoes. *SIGH* And definitely overpriced in regards to the quality. Just a disclaimer: I may live in LA, but I've had plenty of good food in Arkansas. This restaurant was such a disappointment that I joined Yelp in order to warn others about it. I think that says it all. Looking forward to trying Via Romas or Jahna's next time.

    We stopped here after a Hot Springs bathhouse and after the two 5-star reviews I think we were expecting much better than what we experienced. The bread they brought out was not really what I'd expect from an Italian restaurant. It seemed like it had literally come right out of a bag shipped from a cafeteria supplier. There was no crust, no texture, and the taste was very bland. We ordered the pasta special of the day and one of their pizzas. The pasta was a shrimp, artichoke and kalamata olive number in a white wine sauce. It wasn't bad, but I'm a little sore that they charged about $5 more than anything else on the lunch menu. I should have asked, but it seems a pretty cheap shot regardless. The pizza might have changed slightly from the past review, but the one we received was extremely subpar. The crust in particular was something straight out of an elementary school cafeteria (we examined the leftovers and it was definitely premade) and was spongy, overly sweet and unsatisfying. The sauce and cheese were passable, but the "italian sausage" on the pizza could not have been better than generic grocery store brand. The wait staff seemed uninterested and overall the experience was very poor.

    Great atmosphere & nice attentive service. I felt like I was in a glitzy mafioso's hangout. Unfortunately the food was just okay, which would normally be fine, but the high prices were not justified by the food quality. I had the beef ravioli with cream sauce and Italian wedding soup. Tasty, but not exquisite. If they lowered their prices by 30 to 40%, I would have given then more stars.

    The bruschetta appetizer was good, but prices were outrageous for slightly better than Olive Garden pasta entrees. And they made us carry our daughter, who can't walk, upstairs when the entire downstairs dining room was empty. Not child or wallet friendly. Disappointing, especially for the price.

    Went here for a late lunch before going to the airport to fly home on September 16, 2011. Love the historic building and atmosphere. The waiter was funny and engaging. However, while my host was eating her salad and taking her time with it, our food still hadn't come. Turns out the waiter had been waiting for her to finish her salad before even putting our food order in. Hello? When we finally got the food, it was excellent - I had eggplant parmesan and white bean soup; my host had lasagna; and the other person in our group had chicken ceaser salad. No complaints about the food whatsoever. My host mentioned that the waiter should have come by and asked if we were ready for our meals instead of waiting for her to finish her salad. I agree.

    One muggy June afternoon, this California girl was hot, sweaty, and in need of some serious chow. Wandering down Central Avenue, it was either Belle Arti or Subway. Having spent a year of my high school career working at a Subway at the local mall, I knew I would rather lick an ashtray than have to smell that weird frozen bread smell ever again. Although it has Norcal prices for dinner, Belle Arti's lunch menu is more than reasonable, especially considering the portions. The service was great, although it is seriously trippy to be served EYE-TAL-YAN food by waiters with such heavy southern accents. The decor is pretty upscale for Hot Springs (servers wear bow ties) and they even have a piano player in the evenings. The food is great, the salads are HUGE and are enough for an entire meal. As an added bonus, they offered a 15% discount for the festival musicians. I was a happy camper.

    If you are longing for a little taste of Tuscany, come here. I suggest the melon wrapped in prosciutto as an appetizer, and for the entree: mussels. Some nights feature a piano player to entertain you during your meal. The only downside is the apparent disappointment of the waitstaff when you opt to have a coke rather than choose from the wine menu.

    September 10, 2011, Hot Springs Bike Rally Weekend Dinner for 6. We got the table beside the piano. As soon as we (were trying to) sit down we were bombarded by staff! It almost felt like the scene from Birds. You know the one! where Tippi Hedren is ravaged by the birds near the end of the movie. Yeah almost like that. I mean come on guys, let people sit down and get situated before you fly in grabbing, moving, placing and filling stuff up! Anyway, a basket of bread and a bowl of (what I thought was) Olive Tapenad were placed on our table. (read a review earlier that said it was suppose to be pesto??) Not bad, good starter while we waited for our drinks from the bar. For an appetizer we ordered the calamari. Perfectly fried. Light and crisp. No "fishy" taste at all. For supper I ordered a bowl of Lobster Bisque. Oh wow. It was thick, creamy, smooth, rich and just plain wonderful. I ate the whole bowl. One of the other ladies also had it for supper. And she loved every bite as well. Other plates at the table included: Gnocchi in a Basil Pesto. Nice, not bad. Gnocchi were cooked fine but the pesto was a little on the "oily" side. Lamb Chops cooked perfectly. Steaks, both steaks at the table were cooked perfectly. One had a mushroom sauce and the other had a peppercorn sauce. Both men said the steaks were fork tender. The staff was nice enough. It just got annoying having to "shoo fly" them away (not our waiter) somebody was ALWAYS there doing SOMETHING! I mean it's ok if my water glass is half full at the end of our meal. I don't need a refill. And when I tell you that I don't need a refill, leave my damned glass alone. The piano player was fantastic!!! We had a wonderful time talking with him as he played through out the night. The collection of songs he has memorized is amazing. We even played a round of "guess this tune" hahaha he would start a song and we would try to name it! super fun! He even played Elton John! One thing that did perturb me was; I thought it was parties of 8 or more that you got gratuity put on your checks. Well our party of 6 got hit. hidden in with the taxes, tips and total lines, was the 20% grat. So look over your Bill Carefully! food gets 3 starts, staff 2 and piano man gets 5

    This place use to be the place to go during live horse race season in Hot Springs! I have many fond memories of the socializing after the races here. Though I always thought the food was sub-par for the money and hated the fact that the owner yelled at all his employees, I did enjoy seeing everyone, the entertainment was great and the location was in the middle of everything. Wow..Things have changed. According to everyone...the owner has scared away all the locals and it's a total tourist trap now and locals all have their own little "Belle Arti's in their own neighborhoods now. Two of them I have tried, Via Roma and Jonas and they were both great and full of staff from the old Belle Arti days! Some of the great entertainment ended up at Jay's Italian on the lake. Another Italian spot... Luna Bella is a little out of downtown for me, but I have heard great things about it and I have heard it has some of the old staff as well. With all the new options I don't think I could find someone to go to this place with me now. All the foodies go to Central Park Fusion now and it's got the socializing scene going on! Good riddance to Belle Arti being the only game in town and hearing that man screaming at his staff!
